Friends of the Library Meeting with Guest Speaker Dr. Mike Findlay

Thursday, January 4th, at 10:00 a.m.

Our guest speaker for the January 4th meeting will be Dr. Mike Findlay, a retired Anthropology Professor and author.   Dr. Findlay received his MA from CSU-Chico in 1984 and his PhD from the University of Oregon in 1992.  He began his career as a part-time lecturer at Butte Community College and at Chico State University at the same time teaching cultural anthropology, language, linguistics, MesoAmerica, and tourism courses. 

Later on Mike became a full-time instructor at Butte Community College. He became involved in the SE Asian Student Association and was awarded Educator of the Year in 2013.

And if he was not busy enough already, Mike has been a tour guide with CSU-Chico in the Anthropology Department to Canada and the Southwest in the USA

“He is a respected and published scholar who has contributed to research in several fields, including Asian-American Culture and MesoAmerican Studies.”  His latest book is on Ancient MesoAmerica (2020), and he comes highly recommended by book reviewer Dan Barnett.
